STORY: New Flavor

This week has been awesome to me. I was able to accomplish everything I had to do. Since the school year started, I've been all over the place juggling all my commitments (Environment Society President, Editor-in-Chief of PAx, AVP Short Film, HW's and of course, Thesis) so imagine my delight when I checked my to do list today and found that... wait for it.... I had a free day! :) (Although I did have shoot with Peachy in the morning but we wrapped up before lunch)

I've gone to movies and dinner dates the past months, a lot of times I might add, despite my busy schedule but those were usually just last minute/tentative/lets-see-if-I-finish-early types when I have 3-4 hours to spare. Today, I had all the time that I want. I was even able to grab an ice cream and enjoy eating it. I didn't rush to finish my dinner or check my watch when I got out of the cinema. Boy, it is true that you appreciate the simple things more when its been taken away from you.

I'm extremely grateful I finally got a day off. Thank you God! :)

By the way, I tried to be a little adventurous and had ice cream flavors from FIC which I've never had before: Black Sesame and Avocado. The Avocado was great, it tasted like I was eating real avocadoes (yum) while the black sesame was okay but I wouldn't want to go back for more.

STORY: Picture to Burn

I am not a Swiftie (a Taylor Swift fan) but as I do with any other artist, there are one or two songs from her that I find myself listening and humming to. And today, I stumbled upon this song and I have been listening to it on replay for the last hour or two.

It is very country (with the accent and the ukulele) but not the hill billy type which reminds me of square dancing, checkered polos, and hay stacks. This video is actually pretty bad ass just made a little sweet to fit the whole goodie goodie image of Ms. Swift.

Also, I found one comment really funny.

I've seen Carrie Underwood's video where she does smash her cheating boyfriend's car but have yet to see Kelly's. It makes me pretty scared of country girls... they ain't as sweet as they package themselves to be after all. Haha!

THEORY: Inpspired to inspire

I am a super fan of WongFu Productions. In fact, I got my love for filmmaking back because of them. There was a time that I had actually given up hope at filmmaking and lost the desire in creating them... but I think fate allowed me to stumble upon these 3 guys so my passion won't burn out.

I admit, I am far from achieving what they've done but it is inspiring to know that these guys started out where I am now... with a camera and a love for telling stories. There are still many times that I lose motivation to make videos (one is that no one really watches them), but when I watch their shorts (which are all very heartwarming and sweet and definitely my taste -- I am not a fan of dark and morbid stories) I never fail to get pulled back in.

More than juts making movies, the real reason I like to make videos is to affect the viewers. I like the feeling of knowing that someone who watches my video is changed for the better... even at least motivated to think in a different light. I am inspired every time I see a film and that film influences me a lot albeit not in obvious ways. I'd like to be able to do that someday. I really hope I do.

I believe the course I'm taking, Advertising, is the right track for me to achieve my dream. I know it means I won't be making films but it would still be videos. And ads are even more powerful (although you may argue) since it is ever present, short and timely. It could influence the audience far greater and I'm crossing my fingers that I could do that. And in 30 seconds tops.
